Former President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has reacted after the decision that the country will go to new elections within 45 days.
Osmani said that "the roads that were closed by injustice are always opened by the people", an indirect message to Albin Kurti, who did not support him for a second term in the Presidency.
"Last night was a difficult night for Kosovo, but this people have known how to rise even from much more difficult moments. The time for love has come. Enough with propaganda, division and fear-mongering. Where there is hatred, we must bring love, where there is fear, we must bring hope. Where there is propaganda and slander, we must defend the truth," said Osmani.
Kosovo Assembly members failed last night to elect a new president of Kosovo within the constitutional deadline, causing the Assembly to be dissolved and elections to be held within 45 days.
The two presidential candidates proposed by LVV, Feride Rushiti and Hatixhe Hoxha, were not voted on due to the lack of a quorum, as the opposition refused to participate in the session.
Albin Kurti's Vetevendosje party has said it has made efforts to reach a solution for the president, but the offers have been rejected by the opposition.
Opposition parties, meanwhile, have sought an agreement on the president, opposing the idea of the LVV having the three positions: government, parliament, and presidency.
