Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that any agreement to end the conflict between the United States and Iran must take into account the interests not only of the warring parties, but of all countries affected by the crisis.
" Not only Iran, its neighbors, the United States, but all countries that in one way or another suffer from the negative impact on the global economy from the current situation ," Lavrov told reporters after his visit to Mozambique.
Stressing the need for a fair and comprehensive solution, the Russian foreign minister added that the essence remains a diplomatic solution.
"We have a common position on the events surrounding Iran, in the Strait of Hormuz and, more broadly, in the Persian Gulf. We proceed from the fact that, of course, this conflict must be resolved. And it can only end with an agreement that reflects the interests of all parties ," he wrote.
Lavrov called for a just end to the US-Iran war, warning that a unilateral deal would be insufficient and unsustainable. He underlined that the current crisis is negatively affecting global energy markets, food security and international economic stability.
Lavrov's statement comes at a time when diplomatic efforts to restore dialogue between Washington and Tehran have intensified. Pakistan and Qatar are playing an active mediating role, while the Memorandum of Understanding signed in mid-June is being seen as a possible basis for new negotiations. Russia, which has close relations with Iran, has repeatedly insisted that any resolution to the conflict should not ignore the interests of other regional and global actors, including the BRICS countries and developing countries suffering from high oil prices and disruptions in maritime trade through the Strait of Hormuz.
