"Albania has never given up. We are constitutionally obligated to protect the interests of Albanians wherever they are. Certainly also of the second Albanian state, Kosovo," said President Bajram Begaj, during an interview on the "Real Story" show on ABC News.
Begaj also emphasized that the KLA war was a just war and that it had the unconditional support of our strategic partners and allies.

-But if we refer to the political relations between Pristina and Tirana, we all agree that they are at their lowest point. Where do you think the responsibility lies?
I have said before that we should think of ourselves as if we are in a house and there may be dissatisfaction among leaders, but this does not have to be spread throughout our society. This dissatisfaction must be identified, it must be said, discussed and points of cooperation found. It is a necessary condition and we consider cooperation with Kosovo mandatory.
-It seems that there is also a surrender by Rama regarding unilateral efforts to communicate with Pristina since he apparently has not found a response. Do you think that Albania should still not give up, so the Albanian government should not give up?
Albania has never given up regardless of the situation. We are constitutionally obligated to protect the interests of Albanians wherever they are. Certainly also of the second Albanian state, Kosovo. The Prime Minister has defended Mr. Thaci and all those who are unjustly imprisoned in a situation when the KLA was a liberating army, not an occupying one.
-How is it possible that everyone is talking and yet the central authorities of Kosovo, when it comes to the process against Thaçi and KLA figures, who do not come only from the PDK, do not see any reaction to this process that is clearly politically injected?
Kosovo is in this situation that it is today an independent state because there was a just war waged by the KLA and there was unconditional support from our strategic partners and allies. I believe the answer is this, the strategic partnership with the US is a necessity and a pride.
