Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the agreement reached between the United States and Iran has entered into force immediately after being signed by both sides.
In a post on social media, Sharif stated that the first step of implementing the agreement foresees the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz by the Islamic Republic of Iran, while the United States will immediately lift the naval blockade.
According to the Pakistani Prime Minister, who has played a mediating role in the negotiation process, the parties have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at reducing tensions and opening a new phase of dialogue.
Sharif also announced that an official signing ceremony will be held in Switzerland on Friday to mark what he described as a “historic event.” After the ceremony, technical-level talks on implementing the details of the agreement are expected to begin.
