The idiosyncrasy of Donald Trump!
US President Donald Trump

Trump is not crazy...

It seems that US President Donald Trump is tiring of half-hearted complacency. A lover of projecting power, he throws himself into battle with enthusiasm. Sometimes using threats against Washington's traditional European allies, who, however, to his great surprise, resist.

And on the other hand, with his only ally being his friend and Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, he is engaged in a messianic war against Iran, without achieving his original goal of overthrowing the regime. He has necessarily moved from power politics to real politics, and this despite resistance.

President Trump predicted the creation of a new world order, as had repeatedly happened in the past. Specifically: The Treaty of Westphalia of 1648 shaped the political face of Europe, after many years of wars, and lasted for more than 160 years.

The new world order followed the Congress of Vienna in 1815, following the defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte, and lasted a century. It was not until the outbreak of the Great European War in 1914, after which a new world order emerged, with the creation of the League of Nations.

Less than twenty years later, World War I began, and the victorious powers established the final world order. In all of the above cases, terrible wars and the destruction of the opposing forces had preceded it.

Nowadays there is no correspondence with what happened in the past. Of course, there is the question of a form of detachment of European states in matters of defense from the hegemony and absolute dependence of the United States. But this is an internal matter of an alliance, it does not overturn the existing world order.

When the UN was founded in October 1945, the only nuclear power on the planet was the United States. The USSR conducted the first successful test of a nuclear bomb in Kazakhstan on August 29, 1949.

Today, the United Nations Security Council includes the world's three major nuclear powers, the United States, Russia, and China. The system is stable, and therefore there is no need to create a new world order. Some minor adjustments will undoubtedly be made.

And while all of this was clearly evident from the beginning, President Trump launched an all-out war against Iran, regardless of the fact that the other two major nuclear powers have significant interests in this country.

Moscow could not allow Iran to fall into the US sphere of influence, either fragmented or in its entirety. For Beijing, Iran is a "strategic gateway" on the "Silk Road" to the Eastern Mediterranean and Europe. The US, of course, also has strategic interests in the region, which will be protected within the framework of the existing world order. But Trump is not crazy. He is simply idiosyncratic. But he belongs to the Triad of the Great. / Adapted by "Pamphlet" from "Kathimerini"
