NATO General Gives Guarantee: Alliance Troops in Kosovo Will Not Be Reduced

Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, one of NATO's top military figures and Chairman of the Alliance's Military Committee, has stated that there are no plans to reduce NATO troops in Kosovo. According to him, NATO's mission in Kosovo remains very important for the stability of the entire region.

"The mission in Kosovo is certainly very important for the stability of the entire area, for NATO's commitment to ensuring a safe and orderly environment for all of Kosovo.

I came here with the entire Military Committee, that is, 32 generals and admirals from all 32 NATO member countries, so that they can have direct contact with the reality on the ground.

"Now they know things about your country, what happens here, this will certainly be very useful when we meet and make our decisions," he told public television.

Speaking about military capacities, Dragone also mentioned the increased commitment of personnel in certain areas of operation, as well as the reinforcement of troops during the incident in the north in 2023.

"NATO reviews missions every year to assess how they are functioning, how personnel are engaged in certain areas of operation, and we do this on a periodic basis, so there are no surprises. To give you an example, on the other hand, in 2023, at the end of the year, when that incident happened in the northern part, NATO decided to expand, to increase the mission with 1,000 additional troops. This means that we are flexible in this sense, but honestly, as far as I understand to date, there is no plan to reduce troops," he said.
