Mario Gila is officially Milan's newest player. The red and black club have confirmed the transfer of the Spanish defender, who has signed a long-term contract until 2031, after successfully completing his medical.
The 25-year-old defender, born in Barcelona and trained at Real Madrid's academy, is a €30m signing from Lazio, with the deal including €25m in fixed fees and another €5m in bonuses.
An important role in this transfer was played by Igli Tare, who had insisted on Gila's approach since last summer. The Albanian manager had discovered the defender during his time at Lazio in 2022, but the deal only became a reality in this transfer window.
Real Madrid also benefits from the operation, as the Spanish club owned more than 50% of the player's economic rights. Thus, Lazio will not receive the entire transfer fee.
After completing administrative procedures and successfully passing medical examinations, Milan has made the formalization through its official channels.
Mario Gila becomes the second important signing of the Ruben Amorim era, after the transfer of Gonçalo Ramos for a record fee exceeding 70 million euros. The Rossoneri are clearly showing that their ambitions are accompanied by major investments in the transfer market.
