Mario Mitaj has learned today the name of the new coach who will lead Al Ittihad in the Saudi championship. The defender of the Albanian national team will have another manager on the bench, after in a little over two years at the Arab club he has worked with an Argentinean, a Frenchman and a Portuguese coach.
This time, Mitaj will be led by a German coach. Unlike in recent years, when Al Ittihad had well-known names on the bench such as Marcelo Gallardo, Laurent Blanc or Sergio Conceicao, the club has chosen a less sensational profile.
The 38-year-old Jens Vising has been appointed as the new coach of the Saudi team. The decision also shows a change in the club's approach, which is no longer following the policy of spending big to bring in big names in world football.
Vising has spent most of his career as an assistant coach at well-known clubs such as PSV, Benfica and Salzburg, before taking charge of Gamba Osaka in Japan earlier this year.
Now, he begins his new adventure at Al Ittihad with the objective of keeping the team at competitive levels, even though the club is expected to face the departures of some of its stars during the transfer window.
