The Ambassador of the OSCE Presence in Albania, Michel Tarran, has stated that civic protests are a normal element of democracy, while the main challenge for Albanian politics remains the building of a constructive dialogue between the parties.
Tarran praised the fact that protests in Albania are mainly taking place peacefully, respecting citizens' right to express themselves.
"Protests are a normal aspect of democratic life and I am glad that Albania has become a country where such protests are organized in a very civil and peaceful manner. There have been some incidents, but overall, after more than a month, there have been no serious incidents ," said the ambassador from Korça.
Commenting on the political climate in the country, he also focused on the high level of polarization, emphasizing that the existence of different political forces is a normal characteristic of democracy.
"The fact that there are two, three or more poles in politics is something normal. It is a characteristic of democratic countries. Unfortunately, political dialogue in Albania is not at the right level ," declared Michel Tarran.
