The protest, which has been going on for 41 days on Dëshmorët e kombit Boulevard, for journalist Mentor Kikia is not just a revolt against economic hardship, but a civic movement that demands higher democratic standards. He stated that many protesters are demanding changes to the electoral law, media freedom, environmental protection, and equality before the law.

"If a people is simply hungry, they do not recognize the need to protect the environment, they do not recognize the need to protect media freedom. There are protesters there who are demanding a change in the electoral law. There is a demand for deep reform for equal conditions of the electoral competition. There is a protest, there is a demand for media freedom, to free the media from non-political control, economic control, because the media here have become business partners with the government. This raises the protest to a higher level to show that it is not simply the poor class and the truth is that there are intellectuals there even though they are not on the microphone every day. I know many of them who are there and are not there for the bread of their mouths in an absolute way. They are asking for some other standards to live in this country and are also asking for environmental protection, they are also asking for political freedom, they are also asking for media freedom, they are asking for freedom above all to be equal in a society ," he said on the show Në Okykënd on A2 CNN.

According to him, Prime Minister Edi Rama understands well the messages coming from the protesters, so he is trying to change his communication strategy and divide the protesters.

"Rama has absolutely read it. Rama is not just a political fool. He is ready to make a fool of everything just to benefit and get out of a situation, but not because he does not know how to read the messages that are thrown on the streets. This situation has currently plunged the country into a political war, which has never been waged in this country. It is a virtual war. Rama hoped that the protest would end with Molotov, because it was very easy for him to defeat this new political reality, because the protest is a new political reality. He tried twice, he manipulated the crowd, although in miniature, he put it on a path of violence, but those who care pulled him back and passed it peacefully ," he added.

Kikia also commented on the attacks on businesses on social media, calling them part of a virtual war between government supporters and protesters. He said the government has an obligation to protect businesses from cyberattacks, but stressed that many of them have themselves become involved in the political conflict through their activity on social media.
