Scandal in Xarë, the postman 'disappeared' 13 months'

Around 40 pensioners in the village of Xarrë in the Konispol Municipality claim that they have been without their pensions for months, while some of them say that they have not received any payments for up to 13 months. The shocking story was reported on the show Fiks Fare, where the elderly confessed that they were forced to live with the help of their children, as the only income they had was not given to them.

Most pensioners live most of the year in Greece, Sweden or other countries and, every time they have returned to Albania to withdraw their arrears of pensions, they have received the same response from the postman who delivered them: "I have nothing to give you, wait."

According to them, some have not received their pensions for 5, 6 or 8 months, while there are cases where payments are missing for a full 13 months. The economic damage to families ranges from around 1 million to over 7 million old lekë.

In front of the camera of Fiks Fare, the former pension distributor in the area, Fatmir Dula, admitted that he did not give pensions to some residents. He described this as a very serious mistake and stated that he owes about 40 pensioners, with a total value of approximately 37 million old lek.

According to Dula, he expects to complete the inheritance procedures for a property, which he intends to sell to repay all obligations to pensioners.

" Within about 15 days, once the property is transferred to my name and the sale is completed, I will return all the money ," he said, acknowledging that the pensioners have the right to no longer trust him.

After the denunciation, Fiks Fare also addressed the Albanian Post. The Director of the Saranda Post, Aida Demi, stated that the institution has not received any official written complaints from the pensioners.

According to her, Fatmir Dula worked for about 30 years at the Albanian Post and retired in March 2026, terminating his employment relationship. She added that if an official complaint is filed, the matter will be immediately referred to the competent institutions for investigation.

In the end, together with representatives of the Post Office, Fiks Fare returned to Xarrë, where the pensioners, despite the damage they claim to have suffered, said that they do not want the former postman to suffer consequences, as for many years he had been correct with them.

They decided to give him another 10 days to sell the property and get all the money back. For his part, Fatmir Dula thanked them for their understanding and promised once again that he would not feel at ease until he had paid off all his obligations to them./ TCH
