"Oil, the lifeblood of the economy", Berisha on the April 17 protest:
Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has spoken again about the protest announced on April 17, describing it as a strong civic reaction.

According to him, this protest is expected to be a revolt in defense of the main interests of Albanians, including issues related to the economy and governance.

"There will be a powerful revolt of Albanian citizens in defense of their most vital interests. Protection from the thefts of government officials, their Western vocations, but also of their situation from the economic catastrophe that is happening," he said.

During his speech, Berisha also focused on fuel prices, emphasizing their impact on the economy and comparing policies in Albania with those of Western countries.

"Oil is the lifeblood of the economy and is the material with the most powerful impact. The entire Western world is engaged in easing the fiscal burden of oil, while Rama is making fabulous profits due to rising prices. He made a decision absolutely with the aim of bankrupting Albanian farmers. Meanwhile, Germany, in an act three days ago, decided to double oil subsidies for farmers. Sweden also reduced the VAT on food to 6% from 12%,"  Berisha said.
