A Duma lawmaker claims that a large part of refineries are out of operation and accuses the government of minimizing the impact of the fuel shortage on the eve of the wheat harvest.

According to the German newspaper Bild, Russia is facing difficulties in fuel supply, while Ukrainian drone attacks on oil and gas infrastructure have damaged a number of energy facilities on Russian territory.

Bild reports that restrictions have been imposed on the sale of gasoline and diesel in many regions, while long queues have formed at some gas stations or the stations have been temporarily closed.

State Duma deputy Nina Ostanina, chairwoman of the Committee on Family Protection, said that about a third of Russian refineries are out of service. She criticized members of the government, accusing them of not acknowledging the full extent of the crisis.

In a message published on her Telegram channel, Ostanina asked why the Ministry of Agriculture and responsible officials are not reacting on the eve of the harvest season.

"Why is the Minister of Agriculture and the responsible Deputy Prime Minister silent, right before the start of the harvest? The country could be left without bread, which, under international sanctions, would be tantamount to a death sentence," she wrote.

According to Bild, the fuel shortage is also affecting the agricultural sector. Some farmers have reported a shortage of oil for agricultural machinery, which could affect the wheat harvest. The newspaper adds that in some regions there are also the first signs of food shortages.

Ostanina also warned that the situation could have political consequences and affect the State Duma elections scheduled for September.

On the other hand, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated a day ago that the fuel shortage is limited to "a few gas stations." According to him, the domestic market continues to be supplied with gasoline and diesel.
