The 2026 World Cup round of 16 match between Mexico and England, scheduled to be played on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. local time (2:00 a.m. European time), may be rescheduled due to adverse weather conditions.
According to weather forecasts, thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected in Mexico City in the afternoon, which could affect the normal development of the match. If conditions worsen, the referee may decide to postpone the start of the match or even move it, as happened earlier in the match between Mexico and Ecuador.
FIFA, in collaboration with the two relevant federations, is closely monitoring the situation and assessing possible options.
One of the alternatives being considered is to start the match six hours earlier, starting it at 12:00 local time, or 20:00 European time.
However, to this day, a final decision has not yet been made regarding the change in schedule.
