A 44-year-old man has been extradited from the US to our country after being declared wanted by Italy.
According to police, the 44-year-old has been identified as Kamer Duhanxhiu, who was sentenced to 30 years in prison by a neighboring country for attempted murder. He will serve his sentence in Italy.
"The Criminal Police Department, through Fast Albania of the Special Operations Force Directorate, in cooperation with the Diplomatic Security Service/Criminal Investigations Office at the United States Embassy in Tirana, in coordination of joint actions with the Central Directorate of the Italian Criminal Police - International Police Cooperation Service and the Office of Security Experts in Tirana, has long cooperated by exchanging information regarding the Albanian citizen:
Kamer Duhanxhiu, 44 years old.
This citizen, internationally wanted since 1999, has been sentenced by Italian authorities to 30 years in prison for the criminal offense of "Murder", attempted murder and "Murder under aggravating circumstances", events that occurred in 1999 in Asti, Italy.
As a result of cooperation between these law enforcement partner agencies in Albania and Italy, as well as the United States Customs and Border Protection (ICE) Agency, citizen Kamer Duhanxhiu, who had been hiding in the US for many years, was arrested earlier this year in Florida.
After joint coordination efforts between these agencies, he was deported from the US, by charter flight, to Tirana, on 19.11.2025.
Upon arrival at Mother Teresa Airport, he was arrested with the aim of extradition to Italy, based on an international arrest warrant/Interpol red card issued by the Italian authorities.
This citizen will face his 30-year sentence in Italy.
"The State Police, once again, finds the opportunity to highlight another successful operation in the field of international cooperation between partner law enforcement agencies," the police announced.
