A 55-year-old woman was subjected to torture and severe physical violence by another 42-year-old woman in an apartment in Heraklion, Crete.
It is learned that both were foreign immigrants, but their origin is not determined.
According to the Greek Police, the victim was subjected to serious acts of violence, while the suspect allegedly recorded them on her mobile phone. So far, authorities have not clarified the motives of the incident nor the relationship between the two women. According to the investigation, the 55-year-old was sheltering in the apartment where the incident occurred.
According to the investigation file, at least 11 videos were found on the 42-year-old's phone documenting parts of the torture. In one of them, according to police, she is seen hitting the victim with a stick until he starts bleeding.
In another video, the 55-year-old woman is seen tied to the floor, in a serious physical condition. The suspect then approaches her, hits her again, and then cuts her hair with a small axe (a cutting tool with a blade).
The case was investigated by the Heraklion Sub-Directorate for Investigation and Detection of Crimes. On Monday, those involved are expected to appear before the judicial authorities.
According to police investigations, the incident took place on the morning of June 25, 2026, in an apartment in the Agia Triada area. The 42-year-old suspect is alleged to have repeatedly attacked the 55-year-old, punching and slapping her in the face and body, and then using a stick to beat her.
During the attack, the victim was allegedly repeatedly threatened with death, insulted and subjected to acts that, according to authorities, constitute a violation of sexual dignity. The suspect is also alleged to have blocked the exit from the apartment by tying the door with a cable, making it impossible for the victim to escape. She was only able to leave after the 42-year-old had fallen asleep.
Greek police say the entire incident is suspected of being filmed by the perpetrator herself without the victim's consent. During a search of her phone, at least 11 videos were found documenting some of the acts of violence.
During the investigation, the involvement of a 60-year-old foreign national, the owner of the apartment, also came to light. According to the file, he was aware that the two women were in the house, had made the premises where the events took place available and had left before the attack began. He was arrested for illegal residence in Greece.
The case was discovered by chance during the investigation of another case, related to the theft of a mobile phone. During the search of the 42-year-old's device, police found the torture footage, which led to the full disclosure of the case.
During the searches of the apartments, the cutting tool allegedly used during the attack, bloodstained clothes, a lock of human hair, a broken wooden stick, and the mobile phones of the people involved were seized, among other things.
According to the Greek Police, the 42-year-old was not arrested in this case due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for arrest in flagrante delicto, but she is already in custody for another case. Investigations are continuing to fully clarify all the circumstances of the incident.
