Brazil's early elimination from the World Cup after a defeat to Norway has sparked a wave of criticism in the five-time world champion country.
One of the strongest reactions came from Brazilian football legend Ronaldo Nazário, who took aim at both coach Carlo Ancelotti and the team's star player Vinicius Junior.
According to Ronaldo, the main responsibility for the failure stems from the choices made by the bench.
"I have to be honest, I think this elimination starts with the coach's decisions. Carlo Ancelotti is one of the greatest coaches in the history of football, but this time he made a lot of mistakes," declared the former Brazilian striker.
Ronaldo did not understand Ancelotti's decision not to include João Pedro in the World Cup squad.
"I don't understand why João Pedro wasn't part of the team. He had a fantastic season, he was in great form and Brazil needed a striker with different characteristics," he added.
He also criticized the way young talent Endrick was managed.
"Every time he entered the field, Endrick brought energy, aggression and was unpredictable. However, he spent most of the tournament on the bench. I don't understand this choice," said the Brazilian legend.
In his analysis, Ronaldo did not spare Vinicius Junior either, emphasizing that the Real Madrid striker was not at the level expected.
"Vinicius has to take responsibility. We all know how talented he is, but this was not a good World Cup for him. He never looked like the player who dominates with his club. When Brazil needed the stars the most, he failed to make the difference," Ronaldo stressed.
Despite criticism of Brazil, Ronaldo admitted that Norway fully deserved the victory.
"Norway deservedly won. They were an organized and disciplined team, while Erling Haaland punished every mistake we made. However, Brazil made it easy for their opponent with wrong decisions before the match even started," said Ronaldo.
In conclusion, the Brazilian legend emphasized that in a World Cup, mistakes are paid dearly.
"At this level, one or two mistakes can cost you elimination. We did much more than that."
