A large-scale fire was recorded this Sunday afternoon in the Koxhas area, in Shijak, where the flames spread rapidly, favored by the wind.
The fire has created a worrying situation in the area, while thick plumes of smoke have spread over a wide area, becoming visible even along the Tirana-Durres highway. The presence of smoke has attracted the attention of drivers circulating on this road axis, while so far there have been no reports of traffic disruptions.
Shijak firefighting forces have arrived at the scene, working to isolate the source and extinguish the flames, in order to prevent them from spreading to other areas.
According to preliminary information, the fire is suspected to have started after a pile of garbage was set on fire. Due to strong winds and high temperatures, the flames spread rapidly, covering a wider area.
The exact causes of the fire are still under investigation, while authorities are closely monitoring the situation until the fire is completely extinguished. There are no reports of injuries or damage to homes at this time.
