The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC) postponed the trial of Fatime Kryemadhi, Ema Çoku and Pirro Xhixho this Monday to July 13.
The reason for the postponement was the absence from the session of Fatime Kryemadhi, her defense attorney, and the defendant Pirro Xhixho.
The three defendants are being tried separately from former President Ilir Meta and former MP Monika Kryemadhi, after the GJKKO previously decided to divide the file and accepted their request for a summary trial. This procedure means that the case is examined on the basis of the acts administered by the Special Prosecution Office, without the development of a full trial with new evidence administration. In case of a finding of guilt, the defendants benefit from a reduction in sentence by one third.
Meanwhile, the trial against Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi continues with normal procedure.
According to the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK), Fatime Kryemadhi, Ema Çoku and Pirro Xhixho, along with Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi, are accused of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.
SPAK's investigations have focused on suspected lobbying abroad, undeclared contracts for medical services, and financial transactions considered unjustified through family members' bank accounts.
In previous hearings, SPAK has presented evidence and materials from the investigative file related to the CEZ-DIA affair and the lobbying of the former LSI in the United States. According to the prosecution, Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi are suspected of having exerted influence in the interests of businessman Ardian Shatku, while allegations have also been made about the use of his bank cards for Monika Kryemadhi's expenses.
On the other hand, Ilir Meta has denied the accusations and during one of the hearings stated that criminal responsibility is individual, distancing himself from the actions that, according to him, may have been committed by his ex-wife without his knowledge.
The next hearing for Fatime Kryemadhi, Ema Çoku and Pirro Xhixho is scheduled to take place on July 13 at the GJKKO.
