The second round of the 2025 Local Elections in North Macedonia is being held today.

Mayors will be elected in 32 municipalities and the City of Skopje, and there will be re-elections for councilors in three polling stations in Shuto Orizare. There will be no mayoral elections in Gostivar, Vrapčisht, Qendër Zhupë and Mavrovo, and the procedure will be repeated there within 60 days after the conclusion of the Local Elections.

In the second round of the mayoral elections, voting will take place in the capital (Skopje) and in Aerodrom, Bogovinje, Brvenica, Valandovo, Vinica, Dibër, Debarca, Demir Kapi, Karposh, Kicevo, Konce, Kocani, Krusevo, Kumanovo, Lozovo, Makedonska Kamenica, Makedonski Brod, Rosoman, Struga, Studeničani, Tetovo, Qendër, Cheshinovë Obleshevo, Cucer Sandevo, Shuto Orizari, Dolneni, Dojran and Zërnovci.

1,013,375 voters are eligible to vote in the second round of the elections. Of these, 474,304 voters are eligible to vote in the city of Skopje.

In the capital, in the municipalities of Qendër, Aerodrom, Karposh, there will be two ballots for voting because the mayor of the City of Skopje and the local self-government are being elected, while in Shuto Orizari three polling stations will be used for mayors and there will be re-elections for councilors. In the remaining municipalities, only the mayor of the municipalities will be voted on.

Voters will only be able to go to the polling station once. Voting is secret and in these elections, as in the past, in addition to their ID card or passport, voters will also be identified with so-called fingerprint devices.

Voting begins at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m. It may be extended if there are voters remaining at the polling station at 7:00 p.m., or if voting is interrupted during the voting period by a decision of the MEC or the SEC. If voting is interrupted for more than one hour, it will continue for the same period as the interruption, but not more than three hours.

At 19:00, the polling stations close. Voters present at the polling station are allowed to vote. A polling station in which all citizens registered in the Voters' List have voted may close before 19:00, with the prior consent of the competent MEC, but the counting of votes shall not begin before 19:00.

These are the eighth Local Elections in the country and the fourth in which mayors and lists of councilors are elected in 80 municipalities and the City of Skopje.
