Today, students and citizens of Novo Sad organized a 10-hour tribute and protest, starting at 9:00 AM and ending at 7:00 PM, to remember the 16 people who lost their lives a year ago when a train station shelter collapsed.
Students and citizens came together to honor the victims and express their political demands, including calls for elections.
Special moments of the day include:
The release of 16 symbolic lanterns and candles for each of the victims.
Placing a plaque on the Petrovaradin Fortress with the inscription: "We will see each other tomorrow and every other day until justice is done" (We will see each other tomorrow and every other day until justice is done).
At the peak of the protest, from 11:52 to 12:08, according to the MUP, around 39,000 citizens were present. All activities were conducted peacefully.
Students and citizens dispersed after the ceremony ended, leaving behind a clear message about the memory and justice of the victims of the tragedy.
