Dinamo could qualify for the second round of the Conference League without even taking to the field, as their first-round opponent, Astana of Kazakhstan, risks being excluded from UEFA competitions due to their financial situation.
The news was first reported by Kazakh media, which reported that the club is facing serious financial difficulties. According to them, Astana has lost several key players in recent months and there are doubts about whether it has the necessary funds to face the challenge against Dinamo. In fact, media reports have suggested that the club does not have enough funds even to assemble the team and travel to Albania.
Following these reports, Astana itself reacted, through an official statement published on social networks. The club categorically denied that the risk was related to a lack of funds for the trip, clarifying that all expenses for the transfer, accommodation and participation in the match were covered.
" In connection with the spread of false information in the media regarding a possible threat to FC Astana's participation in European competitions, we consider it necessary to make a clarification.
Reports that the club's participation in European competitions is potentially threatened by a lack of funds for the team's travel to Albania are untrue. Preparations for the match are continuing as usual and all expenses related to the team's travel, accommodation and participation have been fully covered.
The reason is solely related to UEFA's quarterly financial monitoring process, during which the club confirms that it has no outstanding financial obligations towards its team members. The club is currently working to successfully complete this process.
"We ask fans and media representatives to rely exclusively on official information published on the official websites of FC Astana ," the Kazakh club writes, also leaving participation in the European Cups in question.

However, the wording of the statement suggests that the process of settling financial obligations is not yet complete. If Astana fails to meet UEFA's demands within the set deadlines, its participation in European competitions could be in question, which would pave the way for Dinamo to automatically advance to the second round of the competition.
