Protest in front of the Parliament, Karamuço: The border towards
Expert Ervin Karamuço

Expert Ervin Karamuço commented on the protest held in front of the Parliament this Tuesday, analyzing the behavior of the protesters and the police reaction.

Asked whether the police reaction was disproportionate and whether the protesters went beyond the boundaries of a peaceful protest, Karamuço said that the situation should be viewed in three different phases.

" First, there is the initial tension, which in these cases is justified, because it is not a summer day, but a situation of anger. Second, comes the escalation, where the clashes begin and that is where the individual responsibility of each protester comes in relation to the law and the actions they take," he said on the "Now" show.

According to him, every individual bears personal responsibility for the acts they commit during the protest, whether in relation to the police or other citizens.

" And the third thing, which I do not forgive and will never forgive, is the destabilization of the country," Karamuço emphasized.

He added that his main concern is related only to this aspect, while for the first two phases he sees no reason for alarm.

" I'm not worried about the first two. I'm only calm about one thing: that it doesn't escalate into destabilization of the country. Many of those who are protesting today didn't live through '97 and don't know what happens when a country enters into instability ," he said.
