Norway have secured their place in the last 16 of the World Cup after beating Ivory Coast 2-1 in Texas. The Nordic team will face Neymar's Brazil in the next round of the competition.
The match was unblocked in the 39th minute, when Antonio Nusa scored a beautiful goal with a precise shot inside the area, perfectly finalizing Martin Odegaard's assist.
After taking the lead, Norway created two more clear chances to double their lead. Erling Haaland and Aleksander Schorloth found themselves in favorable positions, but failed to convert their chances. The first half ended with the Norwegians leading 1-0.
Ivory Coast responded in the second half and equalized in the 74th minute, thanks to Amad Diallo. Coming on as a substitute, the striker took advantage of a beautiful combination with Nicolas Pepe and sent the ball into the net with a precise finish.
As the game drew to a close, Norway regained the lead. In the 85th minute, after a quick counterattack and an assist from Patrik Berg, Erling Haaland was precise in front of goal, scoring the decisive goal for a 2-1 victory.
This was Haaland's fifth goal in this tournament, while only Lionel Messi has scored more, with six goals.
Until the final whistle, the result remained unchanged, with Norway celebrating a historic victory and qualifying for the first time in the round of 16, where a tough match against Carlo Ancelotti's Brazil awaits.
