Shkruar nga PamfletiYesterday marked the 250th anniversary of the Albertina, one of the most renowned art museums in the world.
At the solemn ceremony, attended by Alexander Van der Bellen, Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, and representatives of Austria's artistic and cultural life, it was emphasized several times during the speeches that Giacomo Durazzo stood at the beginning of this famous institution, 250 years ago.
After the ceremony, I had the opportunity to address President Alexander Van der Bellen with these words:
"Albania has been and remains a small country, but it has made a great contribution to the history of the Habsburg Empire.
We start with Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, who for decades hindered Ottoman progress towards Central Europe.
We continue with Count Giacomo Durazzo, originally from Durrës, one of the figures who laid the foundations of the Albertina.
Then with Karl von Ghega, the designer of the Semmering Railway, a masterpiece of European engineering.
With the banker Georg Simon von Sina, one of the most prominent financiers and philanthropists of the Habsburg Empire, originally from Voskopoja.
And with Alexander Moissi, the great actor who immortalized his interpretation of the role of Jedermann."
