The Secretary General of the Socialist Party, Blendi Klosi, has commented on the citizen protest that has been taking place in front of the Prime Minister's Office for 31 days, stating that the government cannot sit in negotiations with a group that demands its removal.
Invited to the "Now" show with Erla Mëhilli, Klosi said that the majority has been willing to dialogue with the protesters about their concerns, but according to him, the only demand currently being articulated is the resignation of the government.
" There was a request from Edi Rama and the government: let's negotiate and listen to you about the problems you have and what is required of the government. This is the only part that the majority had. There was a possibility to create a representation from the first day. Now there is only one request, the resignation of the government. I don't know how a government can sit with those who demand its overthrow. Shall we negotiate its overthrow? ", said Klosi.
He further emphasized that the demand for the government's resignation is not an unusual situation in Albanian politics, recalling the protests organized over the years by the Socialist Party.
" There are groups demanding the resignation of the government every day. So we have nothing wrong with that. But this does not mean that the government will resign. We have held more protests than them. We have been there day and night. Even Berisha did not resign ," declared Klosi.
The statements of the Secretary General of the Socialist Party come at a time when the civic protest has entered its 31st day, while the main demand of the protesters remains the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the creation of a transitional technical government.
