Julian Nagelsmann has ruled out resigning as Germany coach following the team's elimination from the World Cup after a penalty shootout loss to Paraguay.
After the match, the German coach expressed his determination to continue working, emphasizing that he has no intention of leaving at a difficult moment.
" I'm not one to run away. It's not the first time a situation like this has happened and there are moments when the need for change arises. I know there are many people who want me to leave, but if the federation wants to continue with me, I'm ready to move forward ," Nagelsmann declared.
The coach also analyzed the team's performance, admitting that Germany failed to meet expectations during the tournament.
" This is football, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. In this tournament we haven't made our fans celebrate much, but I'm convinced we can do a better job ."
Focusing on the challenge with Paraguay, Nagelsmann praised the opponent's defensive organization, but admitted that his team did not do enough to secure qualification.
" Against Paraguay it was really difficult, because we were up against an ultra-defensive team. We didn't do enough and being eliminated by an opponent of this profile makes you feel bad. If you don't score enough, you can't go further and I'm really sorry for that ."
