Ivory Coast and Norway will face off in one of the most balanced matches of the World Cup round of 16. On paper, both teams are considered equal in quality, although experts give the Norwegians a slight advantage ahead of the match that kicks off at 19:00.
For Ivory Coast, this is a historic achievement. For the first time in their history, the African national team has secured a place in the knockout stages of a World Cup, surpassing the success of the golden generation once led by Didier Drogba.
The team relies on players like Yan Diomande, Amad Diallo and Bonny in the offensive department, while in midfield Frank Kessie has been a key point in front of the defense. Another important weapon is the winger Pepe, who has scored two goals in the tournament so far.
On the other side, Norway will rely on Erling Haaland, whom coach Ståle Solbakken has described as the team's leader at this World Cup. In the attacking department, Haaland will have the support of Larson and Sorloth, while the game is organized by captain Martin Ødegaard.
Before the challenge, Solbakken said he expects a very balanced duel between the two teams.
"I expect a duel between two equal teams, which will need a lot of luck to qualify," declared the Norway coach.
The team that emerges victorious from this match will face Brazil in the round of 16 of the World Cup.
