Ali Khamenei's funeral ceremony

Serbian Minister of Information and Telecommunications Boris Bratina attended the funeral ceremony for Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a representative of the Serbian Government. The news was announced in a statement published on the minister's official Instagram profile.

During his visit to Tehran, Bratina signed the book of condolences and conveyed the condolences of the Serbian Government and people to the Iranian people.

According to the Iranian Ministry of Technology, Innovation and International Affairs, the Serbian minister arrived in the Iranian capital on July 3, where he was welcomed at the airport by Deputy Minister Mohammad Hafez Hakami, Radio Free Europe reported.

The multi-day funeral ceremonies for Ali Khamenei began on July 4. Iran's supreme leader was assassinated on February 28, on the first day of the war between the US, Israel and Iran.

The Serbian minister's participation in the ceremony has sparked reactions in Belgrade. The opposition Freedom and Justice Party demanded to know whether President Aleksandar Vučić had informed the US administration about Serbia's decision to send a government representative to Tehran.

In its reaction, this political force stated that such an action calls into question Serbia's commitment to harmonizing foreign policy with the European Union, one of the main conditions for advancing the European integration process.

Serbia has maintained good relations with Iran in recent years, even though Tehran has faced international sanctions over its nuclear program and accusations of human rights violations.
