After exchanging missile strikes and US intervention to avoid a new escalation, Tehran and Tel Aviv have temporarily halted military operations, but strong warnings from both sides indicate that the calm may only be temporary.

The Middle East is facing another critical moment, as the ceasefire between Iran and Israel looks more fragile than ever. The latest exchange of missile attacks between the two countries has raised fears of a new escalation of the conflict, testing the ceasefire agreement that had brought relative calm over the past two months.

Although there have been signs of easing tensions in recent hours, the situation remains far from normal. According to a senior Israeli official, Israel decided to temporarily halt strikes on Iranian targets following a direct request from US President Donald Trump. However, Israeli authorities have made it clear that this decision should not be interpreted as a withdrawal from their military posture in the region.

Israeli sources have warned that any new attack on Israeli territory or its citizens will bring an immediate and strong response. This also applies to Hezbollah's actions in Lebanon, which Israel continues to consider a direct threat to its security.

On the other hand, Iran announced that it had ended its military operations against Israel, arguing that they were a response to recent developments in Lebanon and attacks on the southern suburbs of Beirut. However, Tehran warned that any continuation of Israeli operations on Lebanese territory would bring even stronger reactions.

The rhetoric used by Iranian officials indicates that tensions remain at very high levels. The secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, issued a stern warning to Israel and the United States, stating that any "new mistake" by what he called the "Zionist-American coalition" would have serious consequences for the region.

At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to make public statements on the situation, while he has called a meeting of the security cabinet to assess developments and next steps. According to Israeli media, discussions continue within the government on how to manage the situation, while international pressure to avoid a wider war continues to grow.

Signs of tension remain visible on the ground. Sirens sounded in northern Israel after reports of a shell landing in southern Lebanon, although the Israeli military said there were no casualties. Other incidents in the region, including a fire on an oil tanker off the coast of Oman, have added to concerns about security in an area strategically important for global trade and energy.

The consequences of the crisis have also been reflected in international markets. Oil prices rose by about 4% after reports of escalating tensions, while investors are carefully following any developments that could affect the stability of the region and the global economy. However, signals of a temporary halt to military operations have helped calm financial markets, with major indexes on Wall Street rising.

Meanwhile, the international community is stepping up diplomatic efforts to avert a deeper crisis. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on all parties to show restraint and not miss the opportunity for a political solution to the conflict. He stressed that diplomacy remains the only way to avoid a new cycle of violence in the Middle East.

Despite declarations of a halt to military operations, the reality on the ground shows that the ceasefire remains extremely fragile. Mutual threats, a lack of trust between the parties, and the presence of multiple regional actors make the situation unpredictable.

For now, the Middle East is between the hope for peace and the risk of a new confrontation, while the ceasefire between Iran and Israel continues to hang in the balance./ Pamphlet
