The Portuguese Football Federation has officially begun procedures to find a new coach for the national team, who is expected to take office after the end of the World Cup.
According to reports, the shortlist of candidates includes three well-known names in Portuguese football: Jorge Jesus, Abel Ferreira and Sergio Conceição. All three coaches are considered serious alternatives to take charge of the national team in a new phase of the sports project.
Behind the scenes of this process, the name of Jose Mourinho stands out. The leaders of the Federation had considered the "Special One" as the first choice for the Portugal bench, but negotiations did not reach a result. Mourinho decided to accept the offer to return to the helm of Real Madrid, excluding himself from the race to lead the national team.
After Mourinho withdrew from this option, attention has focused on the three remaining candidates, who are expected to compete for the position of Portugal coach after the World Cup.
