"As long as the Italian government squanders taxpayers' money, Italy will collapse, from the economy to the towers," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on her Telegram channel, commenting on the collapse of the medieval Torre dei Conti Tower in the Imperial Forum.
Part of the medieval Torre dei Conti collapsed on Monday morning during renovation work in central Rome near the Colosseum, with firefighters rescuing four workers, while one was trapped under the rubble. Two other workers were slightly injured, although they refused to be taken to hospital, ANSA reported.
