An unusual episode has drawn attention after the tense play-off final between Italy and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Afan Cizmic, a 14-year-old ball boy, has been identified as the person who took detailed notes of Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma during the penalty shootout.
According to reports, the youngster noticed that Donaruma had left a sheet of information near the towel, away from the goal line. In a moment of distraction, the goalkeeper managed to retrieve the document, which contained precise data on the shooting preferences and movements of the Bosnian players.
After the match, Cizmic spoke to Bosnian media, describing the moment:
" I saw the piece of paper next to the towel and immediately knew what it was. I took it and hid it ."
He added that the importance of the document was great for the Italian goalkeeper:
" Inside was all the information about our players. Without that piece of paper, Donnarumma had to rely on his intuition ."
According to him, the goalkeeper's reaction was immediate:
" He was very disappointed and angry. He picked up the towel and saw that the piece of paper was missing; he looked for it, but he couldn't find it ."
Bosnian television N1 reported that during an interview it promised the 14-year-old an invitation as a guest of honor to Bosnia and Herzegovina's matches at the 2026 World Cup.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that the sheet of notes is expected to be auctioned, with the proceeds going to charity.
Afan Cizmic is considered a rising talent in youth football, with 18 goals in 12 games for his team. The latest episode, albeit off the field of play, has put him in the spotlight.
