A serious incident occurred this afternoon in the village of Orizaj, Berat. A 15-year-old boy lost his life after drowning in the Osum River.
The victim has been identified as Fatjon Sadushi, who had gone out to work in the fields with his father. To cool off from the high temperatures, the teenager entered the river, but it is suspected that he was swept away by the current.
As soon as he realized his son was in trouble, the father immediately jumped into the river in an attempt to save him. He managed to pull him to shore, but the 15-year-old showed no signs of life.
Police services and an ambulance arrived at the scene, which transported the body to the morgue of the Berat Regional Hospital, where it will undergo a forensic autopsy.
The investigation team is working to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident and determine the cause of the drowning. According to preliminary suspicions, the 15-year-old drowned accidentally while bathing in the river.
