The future of Albanian national team coach Silvinjo could be linked to Brazil again. According to reports from Brazilian portal “bolavip.br”, he has been included in the list of candidates to take over at Corinthians, following the resignation of Dorival Jr.
Silvinjo is currently under contract with the Albanian Football Federation until the end of July. So far, there has been no official decision on his continuation, while Brazilian media have started mentioning his name as a concrete alternative for the famous club's bench.
One of the main reasons why Silvinho is considered a serious candidate is the fact that he knows Corinthians well. This would avoid an adaptation period, unlike other coaches who have no previous connection with the club.
Corinthians' board appears to be under pressure to appoint a new coach as soon as possible. The team has important matches ahead: on Thursday it debuts in the Copa Libertadores against Platense, while on Sunday it faces rivals Palmeiras in the championship.
Silvinjo's past at Corinthians
Silvinho has a previous history with Corinthians, both as a coach and as a player. He led the team from May 2021 to February 3, 2022, a period that ended with his resignation after the defeat to Santos.
During this time, he recorded 44 matches in charge of the team, with a record of 17 wins, 14 draws and 13 losses. Previously, Silvinho was also part of the club as a player in the years 1994–1999.
Other candidates in the race
However, Silvinho is not the only name on Corinthians' list. According to journalist Joao Van Boysen, the club's Administrative Council is also considering other candidates such as Carlos Carvajal, Bruno Lage, Tite, Fernando Diniz, Marcelo Gallardo and Juan Pablo Vojvoda.
