Cesena's Albanian striker, Kristian Shpendi, commented on the draw against Sudtirol, focusing particularly on the new role entrusted to him by coach Ashley Cole after the latter's arrival on the bench.
According to Shpendi, changing his position on the field is an opportunity for his development as a player.
" It's something that can only bring me benefits. Of course, in the first games you have to get used to it and learn the movements. But if I start on the left, I can step back and try my game ," he said.
The English coach has compared this role to that of French legend Thierry Henry, with whom he shared the playing field for years at Arsenal.
Regarding the action where the ball ended up in the net, but was registered as an own goal by defender Davit, Shpendi gave his version:
" Personally, I'm happy to have returned to goal and I think I scored. I don't think the ball went completely into the net after the defender touched it ," he told "Il Resto del Carlino".
However, the fact remains that the pressure exerted by the Albanian striker led to the opponent's mistake and the scoring of the own goal.
Shpendi also positively assessed the team's performance:
" I think I played a great game and I think the whole team put in a great performance ."
The striker did not hide his desire to stay on the field longer, but showed understanding for the coach's decision:
" Substitution? Nobody is happy when they are substituted, we all want to play as much as possible. But it is the coach's decision, which I understand 100% ," he concluded.
