Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku has accused Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi and the government of keeping Albanians in the dark about the negotiation and integration process in Brussels.
She denounced the lack of transparency regarding negotiating positions in Brussels and the progress of the process, to inform all citizens about who is causing the blockage or obstruction of EU integration.
"During the last session in Parliament, we had a long debate about integration and that the opposition has been left out of the process, important not only for the opposition but also for Albanians. I believed that the government would reflect and bring information to parliament, in Serbia it is often done, the process is transparent, but this does not happen here. Albanians have no information about the intermediary obligations, the progress of the process, the time period, absolutely no opposition MP has been involved in this process," said Tabaku.
The MP asked Pelesh to provide Parliament with explanatory information about what was happening in Brussels, as the opposition had been left out of the process.
"I ask you, Mr. Speaker, to follow the procedure and inform the opposition about everything. We have requested the following negotiating positions. This process is not technical where power point presentations are made. This process is political. Citizens want to know what is being negotiated in Brussels, are there any obstacles there, which obligations have not been fulfilled by the government, the obligations and how this process is progressing," said the Democratic legislator.
She further accused the majority of blocking integration and one of the reasons was the failure to lift the immunity of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.
"They need to know if the project for yacht ports is an obstacle to the public procurement chapters, if the blocking and non-voting of the immunity of the Deputy Prime Minister has become problematic, has it been the subject of discussion there or not, Albanians need to know this, we need to know it. It has been Albania's strategic objective, you cannot ignore it without information. I repeat the opposition's request for transparency and information. We definitely need to be inclusive and have these topics in Parliament", emphasized the MP.
