The majority and the opposition started today's plenary session with a debate regarding a draft law regarding the Republican Guard.
Taulant Balla, head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, requested the postponement of the discussion and approval of the draft law, emphasizing that this is a position also supported by opposition MPs. Balla said that this draft law could be discussed in the April 23 session.
But Klevis Balliu, a DP MP, said that with the draft presented, the majority is aiming to sew a legal suit to appoint the person it prefers as head of the Republican Guard.
"You have not introduced any law that improves conditions in the Guard of the Republic, nor does it support Guard employees. You are simply sewing a suit to appoint as head of the Guard the person appointed by Edi Rama," said Balliu.
But for Taulant Balla, the accusations against the Republican Guard do not hold up. Balla praised this institution and asked the deputies not to throw political mud.
