A gunfight that took place outside a nightclub in Piraeus, Greece, a year ago led to the arrest of 12 people, Albanians and Greeks, members of two criminal groups, including a police officer.
They were arrested as part of an in-depth investigation by the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and the Department for Prosecution of Crimes Against Life and Property in Greece.
The incident occurred on September 29, 2024, when two criminal groups, consisting of at least 6 people each, initially engaged in a physical fight with punches and kicks, then escalated into an exchange of gunfire.
After the investigation and searches carried out in apartments and other locations, weapons, ammunition, drugs, and other pieces of criminal equipment were found and seized, more specifically: 1 pistol with a 10-round magazine, 1 revolver with 6 rounds, 1 shotgun, 14 different knives, 3 cars and 1 motorcycle, 175,470 euros, Marijuana (2.4 grams), anabolic tablets, and clothing and items used during the crash.
The charges against those arrested include creating a criminal organization, attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm, dereliction of duty, and violations of weapons and drug laws. Investigations are ongoing to fully uncover the full scope of criminal activity of the groups involved.
