
New details have emerged regarding the arrest of Deputy Commissioner Edison Pema in Elbasan.
It is learned that Deputy Commissioner Pema had lent 50 thousand euros to a person and was taking 2 thousand euros in interest every month. In addition, he had also taken 5 vehicles and held them hostage under pressure, writes BW.
The person went to file a complaint and after investigations, his claims were substantiated and Officer Edison Pema was arrested.
In addition to the illegal monthly interest, Pema had mortgaged 5 vehicles owned by the victim, exerting constant threats and pressure on her to ensure the return of the amount with high profits.
"As part of the "Last rent" operation conducted by the Police Supervision Agency (Elbasan - Korçë Region), under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Elbasan, the police officer Deputy Commissioner EP, with the duty of Specialist for the Investigation of Crimes in the Narcotics Investigation Section at the Elbasan DVP, was detained, suspected of committing the criminal offense of "Extortion by threat or violence for the release of property".
Following in-depth investigations using special methods, it was possible to arrest this employee, who was lending (usury) to various people and then, through threats or violence, coercing them to return significant amounts of money.
"As material evidence, 5 vehicles of recent production years owned by various individuals were seized. Work continues to identify other possible individuals involved in this criminal activity," the police statement said.
