Police have provided new details regarding the tragic accident that occurred this Tuesday afternoon on the Tirana-Durrës highway, where a van from the Berat line went off the road, causing two fatalities and 15 injuries.
The Head of the Traffic Police, Perlat Vatoci, stated that, according to preliminary data, the vehicle did not have contact with other vehicles, but the driver lost control, colliding with the traffic divider.
" For reasons that are unclear so far, the vehicle did not make contact, but lost control and crashed into the traffic divider. 2 victims and 15 injured are confirmed. One of the injured is in serious condition, while the others are in stable condition. Among the injured is a child. It is initially suspected that the driver lost control, but this will be subject to verification ," said Vatoci.
According to preliminary information, one of the victims is suspected to be the driver of the van, while the identity of the other victim has not yet been made public.
The police and the investigation team continue to work at the scene to fully clarify the causes and circumstances of the accident, while the results of the expertise that will determine the dynamics of the event are also awaited.
