Tehran trembles: Taulant, Zeqineja and Neomalësorja "bring" Iran

With cartoons, poses, and provincial solemnity, the politics that have ruined the country are selling themselves as the saviors of the world order...

Tehran certainly didn't sleep last night. Not from the missiles, not from the sanctions, not from the international isolation, but from the metaphysical horror that comes when the Albanian Parliament decided to raise its index finger and declare a regional power like Iran a "state sponsor of terrorism." It is not known whether the lights were turned off in the Ayatollah's offices out of panic or austerity, but one thing is certain: when Taulant rises to the podium and the republic of moral cardboard begins to lecture on world order, even history itself melts with laughter.

The draft resolution of the socialist majority, announced by Edi Rama and introduced in the session of March 17, declares Iran not only a sponsor of terrorism, but also a state that uses terrorist means, while asking Albanian institutions and partners to act in accordance with this line. In short, Tirana has undertaken to regulate the Middle East, as soon as it finishes work with tenders, patronage and internal issues that it always leaves for "next week".

The spectacle is magnificent in its absurdity. A parliament that barely produces institutional dignity for itself, that rises and falls according to the needs of daily propaganda, that cannot find consensus on anything related to the plight of the people, suddenly appeared to us as the moral tribunal of the planet.

Prices may go crazy, corruption may be rampant, youth flight may have become a national sport, but our state has found the great enemy of humanity and, what is most beautiful, it has found it in a session that produces more theater than substance. Because ultimately, this resolution is not just a political act; it is a small Balkan operetta where secondary actors play the role of moral emperors, while the public pays the ticket with taxes, with cynicism and with the loss of any illusion that serious politics is being done here.

And this is where the Albanian black comedy begins. Because no one is seriously debating whether the Iranian regime has a dark history, whether it has a destabilizing role or whether Albania has strong security reasons, especially after the cyberattacks that the Albanian government has attributed to Iranian structures. These are real and serious issues. But the way they are being handled in Tirana turns them from serious security issues into provincial skits for domestic consumption. When Edi Rama sells this as a great act of Western responsibility, while Taulant packaged it in the hall with that familiar solemnity of a bureaucrat who feels like the secretary of state of the free world for a few minutes, you don't see diplomacy; you see only a desperate need to appear important in the eyes of allies. Albania is not speaking as a strong state. Albania is reciting like the most obedient student in the class, hoping to get a pat on the head from the teacher, even though he only speaks loudly when it is his turn to repeat what he was told earlier.

This is where the folkloric grandeur of our parliament comes into play, where every major international act must necessarily pass through the filter of domestic pettiness. The opposition boycotted the session, not because Iran suddenly became innocent, but because in Albania, even when geopolitics is discussed, the debate descends to the level of squabbles over procedure, agenda, and internal scores.

Thus, while the world deals with wars, oil, drones, Hormuz and regional destabilization, we produce the typical Albanian scene: the majority plays the role of the guardian of civilization, the opposition that of ritual boycott, and the citizen sees on the screen a bunch of functional idiots talking their hearts out in front of Iran. This is the height of tragicomedy: the weaker the real authority of our political class at home, the bigger the stakes on the international stage.

Of course, the resolution will be sold as a historic act. It will be said that Albania is the second country after the US to take this step, that a strong message is being given, that Tirana is on the right side of history, that we are not afraid. All of these sound nice in statements, especially when read in the tired tone of people who have spent their lives confusing servility with strategy.

But the question that remains pending is much simpler: is this a thoughtful foreign policy, or simply an exercise in loyalty to show Washington that there are still people here ready to act as megaphones?

Because if you look at it calmly, there is something deeply provincial about this whole scene: an elite that fails to impose seriousness on its own internal affairs, but behaves as if it is preparing the new map of global security. This is not power. It is the need to show off. And often the need to show off is the purest form of weakness./ Pamphlet
