US Secretary of Defense participates in physical exercises aboard USS Boxer
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth joined US troops aboard the USS Boxer warship, docked in Singapore, where he participated in a physical training session and held meetings with military personnel.
Hegseth was seen running and doing physical exercises alongside the soldiers. During the activity, he also exchanged comments with the journalists present about the intensity of the training.
Later, in a public statement, the head of the Pentagon praised the professionalism and preparation of American troops, linking their readiness to the United States' broader commitment to security and stability in the region.
Hegseth's visit comes ahead of his participation in the Shangri-La Dialogue security conference in Singapore, one of the most important defense forums in Asia. US-China security relations are expected to be among the main topics of discussion.
However, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun will not attend the forum. Beijing has announced that it will be represented by a delegation made up of experts and scholars.
The conference takes place from May 29 to 31 and brings together defense ministers, military leaders, intelligence chiefs, diplomats, security analysts, and representatives of the defense industry.
