An Iranian official said that a memorandum of understanding that would allow the United States and Iran to resolve some issues and continue negotiations on others has not yet been finalized. Iranian state media quoted the official as saying that the memorandum had undergone changes in recent days.
"The text has not yet reached a final conclusion at this time, and if it is finalized, it will be officially announced ," the official said.
There has been much talk in recent days about the progress, or lack thereof, of any agreement between the US and Iran.
What they are currently trying to agree on appears to be a preliminary framework that would cover some issues and give the parties more time and space to negotiate other issues.
Despite optimism last weekend that something was close from Donald Trump, both sides have since called for caution.
