Vice President of the European Parliament's message from the protest:

Nicolae Ștefănuță recalled the overthrow of Ceaușescu, encouraged protesters not to give up and said that "politicians die when people are alive."

One of the strongest speeches at the 30th-day protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office was delivered by the Vice President of the European Parliament, Nicolae Ștefănuță, who addressed citizens with a message about democracy, the fight against corruption, and the importance of civic resistance.

With an Albanian turban on his head, as a sign of respect for the country, the Romanian MEP drew a parallel between the fall of the dictatorship in Romania and the Albanian transition, stating that Albanians should no longer accept corruption and abuse of power.

" Good evening Albania! I am the vice-president of the European Parliament, but I am the son of a shepherd who raised sheep in Romania. I feel at home here, because Albania is our sister nation. I was only 9 years old when I saw Ceausescu fall from power. You had to wait a little longer for Enver Hoxha to fall. But today you no longer have to endure any form of dictatorship. Enough with transition, enough with corruption! ", he said.

Following his speech, Ștefănuță shared his personal experience in organizing protests in Romania, emphasizing that civic movements, even when they start for a single cause, can turn into a large national and European movement.

" I also organized a protest that started as an environmental protest in Romania. Then thousands of citizens joined, people protesting against corruption, the diaspora also came. It was no longer just a protest for the environment, but a European protest. That's why I challenge you not to believe those who tell you that you will run out of energy. The real power is in the people. When the people are alive and stand up, the legs of politicians start to tremble ," he said.

At the end of the speech, the Vice President of the European Parliament noted that MEPs and European representatives were present in the square, while, according to him, Prime Minister Edi Rama was absent.

" Why are the Europeans here and why is Edi Rama not here? Maybe he is afraid. If he is afraid, you should not be afraid. Remember that the road may be long, but you are on the right side of history. And when you are on the right side of history, God is with you. I am proud to hold this Albanian flag and I hope to see Albania part of the European Union very soon. God bless Albania ," he said.

Nicolae Ștefănuță's speech was greeted with applause and cheers from the protesters gathered in front of the Prime Minister's Office, at a symbolic moment when the protest has completed a month of uninterrupted resistance.
