Tehran confirms that the possibility of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump signing the memorandum of understanding in person is being considered. Trump also made a humorous comment about Vice President JD Vance…

According to Iran's Foreign Ministry, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump may personally sign the memorandum of understanding being discussed between the two countries.

Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said the option had been proposed and was being considered, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

"This proposal has been submitted and remains under consideration," Baghaei said, adding that Iran has not changed plans to attend the official signing ceremony, which is expected to take place on Friday in Switzerland.

On the other hand, Donald Trump commented in humorous tones on the issue of signing the agreement during the press conference at the end of the G7 summit.

Asked by reporters if he would travel in person to sign the document, Trump responded that it is a memorandum of understanding and not necessarily a document that requires his presence.

"Maybe, but it's a memorandum of understanding," he said, adding, "it's very important, but it's probably not the kind of document I should sign myself."

When asked if he would consider sending Vice President JD Vance in his place, Trump jokingly replied: "I like that idea. Sure. If everything goes well, I'll take the credit. If it doesn't go well, I'll blame JD."

The US president's comment sparked laughter among those present, as he humorously added that Vance should be careful, as he could end up changing travel plans at the last minute.
