Kosovo, led by coach Franco Foda, started its journey to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a loss.
The Dardanian representative was soundly defeated 4-0 by Switzerland, in the match held in Basel, valid for Group B.
The match was decided in the first half, where the Swiss scored four times, turning the match into a match to forget for Kosovo.
After the challenge, Switzerland captain Granit Xhaka, who never hides his Albanian origin, focused on the team's performance and the goals scored.
"The first half was probably the best we've played in a long time. If we had played at the same pace in the second half, the score could have been 6-0 or 7-0. Kosovo wasn't weak, but we were in a very good condition."
"The whole world knows that I am Albanian by heart and blood, but tonight I celebrated the goals because I represent Switzerland," said Xhaka.
A difficult start for Kosovo, who will have to react in the next match against Sweden at home to keep their hopes of qualifying alive.
