France-Luxembourg Under-21s match postponed, bus ends up in canal

The match between the U-21 representatives of France and Luxembourg, scheduled to be played today, in Lorient, for the qualifiers of the European Championship 2027, has been postponed to October 3. The decision was made after an incident occurred with the bus of the Luxembourg delegation, an event that made it impossible to hold the match.

According to official reports, five Luxembourg U-21 footballers ended up in hospital, but fortunately were released after their condition was assessed as good.

The bus, which was transporting the team from the Stade du Moustoir stadium to the hotel in Ploermel, went off the road and ended up in a canal. The cause of the accident is suspected to have been a health problem of the driver.

The driver, 53 years old, with nine years of service, had no accident record and was equipped with proper medical documentation. The transport company emphasized that he had successfully passed alcohol and drug tests, ruling out these as possible factors.

The federations of both countries, in agreement with UEFA, decided to postpone the match to ensure the safety and well-being of the players. Despite initial fears, the good news is that no one from the Luxembourg team suffered serious injuries.
