Football fans are blaming the "curse of Aaron Ramsey" for the death of legendary designer Giorgio Armani, after a few days earlier he had scored... a goal!
The 34-year-old former Arsenal and Juventus player scored for Pumas in the final minutes of a Liga MX match against Atlas, sparking celebratory scenes in Mexico City. Following news of Armani's death, some football fans were quick to point out on social media that Ramsey, nicknamed the "Caerfield Deathbender", had scored just days earlier.
“ Have a safe journey Giorgio Armani. You were a victim of Aaron Ramsey’s curse in 2025 ,” wrote one user on X. “ Do you remember Aaron Ramsey’s curse? Here it is again. The Welshman scored for Pumas on August 31, his first goal of the year, and legendary designer Giorgio Armani passed away ,” wrote another user.
Some have questioned the curse, claiming that Ramsey's goal happened too close to Armani's death, but the celebrity's death is the latest in a series of strange coincidences that have had fans joking about the so-called "curse" for years.
In the past, the death of “Crafty Cockney” Eric Bristow was announced just hours after Ramsey scored. In 2011, news of the death of 9/11 terrorist Osama bin Laden was announced the day after Ramsey scored for Arsenal against Manchester United.
Despite the fact that the actual causes of these deaths were independent of Ramsey's goals, conspiracy theories continued to circulate, as users linked the Welshman's goals to the deaths of celebrities such as Steve Jobs, Colonel Gaddafi, Whitney Houston, Alan Rickman, David Bowe and Keith Flint.
Ramsey himself dismissed these rumors in 2015, calling them "ridiculous," but adding with humor that on some occasions he had "cleaned up some bad guys."
Giorgio Armani's latest loss highlights the strange, albeit satirical, connection between Ramsey's goals and the deaths of celebrities, confirming that the mythology surrounding the Welsh midfielder continues to "fascinate" and unsettle fans.
