The boxing world has received another big surprise.
Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather have signed contracts for a giant duel, which is expected to take place in the spring of 2026.
The news was made public by TMZ, while Tyson himself confirmed it on social media on Thursday evening.
"Iron Mike", who will step into the ring at the age of 59, will challenge legendary champion Floyd Mayweather, who will be 49 years old in April 2026.
Tyson, who fought a duel with Jack Paul last year, where he also had health concerns during the match, admitted that this is one of the most unexpected challenges of his career.
" Neither I nor the world thought that such a match could happen. But here we are, it's signed and it's going to happen. I don't believe Floyd agrees to do this. In my opinion, it would be harmful to his health, but he wants it and so here we are ," Tyson said.
On the other hand, Mayweather, undefeated in his career with a 50-0 record, declared that this fight is another historic moment for the sport:
" No boxer can tarnish my legacy. If I step into the ring, it's known that it will be something big, legendary. This fight will give the fans what they want ."
The Tyson-Mayweather fight will be an exhibition match and will not count towards the professional statistics of the two champions. The organization is taken over by CSI Sports/Fight Sports, while the date and venue will be announced later.
Mayweather fought his last professional fight in 2017, when he defeated UFC star Conor McGregor, and then faced Logan Paul in an exhibition bout. Tyson, on the other hand, attracted a record audience of 108 million viewers for his fight with Jack Paul.
A match that is expected to go down in sports history, with two boxing legends returning to write their final chapter in the ring.
